New York New Jersey Rail is a wholly owned entity of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. As part the only floating rail barge service in the eastern United States. Our barges hold up to eighteen cars per trip.
New York New Jersey Rail proudly serves American Business and Industry providing the most direct route (4 miles / 45 minutes by water) between New Jersey and New York via New York Harbor. We maintain rail yards and float bridges in the Greenville section of Jersey City, New Jersey and at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Brooklyn, NY.
New York New Jersey Rail was formed in 2005 when it assumed control of the New York Cross Harbor Railroad. NYNJ Rail became a wholly owned entity of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in 2008, continuing over 100 years of service to the Metropolitan area.
In Brooklyn, we operate a branch line up First Avenue to serve the Bush yard (51st Street) and the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal complex.
Both New York New Jersey Rail and the Port Jersey Railroad Division, offer easy access to the New Jersey Turnpike and Route 440.
